Cover of Rolling Stone?

On several occasions I have had the pleasure of reading Follow That Star. One thing I enjoy there is the weekly spotlight "Blog of the Week." I have noticed from the list of previously spotlighted blogs that I regularly read many of them. That got me to thinking, now wouldn't that be a nice "club" to belong?

I've been known to parody original works like TV shows, movies, and sometimes songs. For the creators of Follow That Star, I submit the following song parody in a shameless display of self-promotion. Hey, it worked for Dr. Hook, didn't it? (Well it was an artist's rendering, but it was still a picture.)

Without further adieu and with appologies to Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show for this parody of their hit, Cover of the Rolling Stone, I give you:

Cover Me FTS
Well I'm just a blog penner,
I blog just like a beginner,
And they read everything I write.
I write about something
I write about nothing
At about a hundred words per night.
I drink cofffee and take pills
That give me nerve and thrills.
But the thrill I've never known so far
Is the thrill that'll jogya
When FTS wants to blogya
As Blog of the Week at Follow That Star.
...Wanna see that my blog they cover
...Wanna print five copies for my mother
...Wanna see my Blog's name
As Blog of the Week at Follow That Star.

I ain't got little teenage blue-eyed groupies
Who'll do anything I say.
I don't have a genuine Indian guru
Who's teaching me a better way.
I got a lot of friends I didn't have to buy,
So I never have to be alone so far.
I'm not getting any richer,
But I can't get my Blog's picture
As Blog of the Week at Follow That Star.
...Wanna see that my Blog they cover
...Wanna print five copies for my mother
...Wanna see my Blog's name
As Blog of the Week at Follow That Star
As Blog of the Week at Follow That Star
...Wanna see that my Blog they cover
...Wanna print five copies for my mother
...Wanna see my Blog's name
As Blog of the Week ....
At Follow That Star!

With a sense of fair play, and for your enjoyment, the following are the original lyrics.

Cover of the Rolling Stone
Dr Hook & The Medicine Show

Well we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go
We sing about beauty
and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show
We take all kinda pills
That give us all kinda thrills
But the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that'll getcha
When you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
Wanna see my picture on the cover
Wanna buy five copies for my mother
Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover the cover of the Rollin' Stone

I got a freaky old lady
Name a Cocaine Katie
Who embroideries on my jeans
I got my poor ol' grey haired
Daddy Drivin' my limousine
Now it's all designed
To blow our minds
But our minds won't really be blown
Like the blow that'll getcha
When you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
Wanna see my pictures on the cover
Wanna buy five copies for my mother
Wanna see my smiling face
On the cover the cover of the Rollin' Stone

We gotta lotta little teenage blue-eyed groupies
Who'll do anything we say
We got a genuine Indian guru
Who's teachin' us a better way
We got all the friends that money can buy
So we never have to be alone
And we keep gettin' richer,
but we can't get our picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
Wanna see my picture on the cover
Wanna buy five copies for my mother
Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
Gonna see my picture on the cover
Gonna buy five copies for my mother
Gonna see my smiling face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

If you'll excuse me, I have to make sure the ink catridges are okay in my printer.
