Thinking From Inside the Box

"Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do so." -Bertrand Russell

While they look like they were dressed by a tornado, there is something rather logical about the one dude's observation.

By no means are the typical teen boys of today likely to be up for Mensa consideration or mistaken for Rocket Scientists.

Needing two hands to hold up their pants, the so-called Hip Hoppers are seldom seen carrying school books. Their "style" of dress indeed flies in the face of all logic.

You might say they are more apt to think inside as oppposed to outside the box.

How about you? Can you think outside the box? In the following logic questions, from which side of the box does your mind operate?

-1) What was the highest mountain on earth before Mt. Everest was discovered?

-2) How many times can you subtract 5 from 25?

-3) How many mistakes can you find in the following sentence?: " Their are five mistaiks in this sentance. "

-4) If you drop a rock, would it fall more rapidly through water at 40 degrees Farenheit or 20 degrees Fahrenheit?

-5) What were Alexander Graham Bell's first words?

-6) If two is company and three is a crowd, what are four and five?

Four of five. High five!

My mistake was I didn't consider the logic of the sentence as a mistake.

Blech. I hate those baggy pants. I don't see how kids even walk with their pants down to their knees.

Cool list of questions. I amazed myself by getting all but one.:)

I started out with a list of 30 of the logic questions, but decided to put up only those six.

I can REALLY relate to the cartoon! (At least the getting old part of it.) I can't stand those kids running around looking like that. I am sure my folks felt the same way about my clothes too. ~ jb///

I think I better start wearing baggy pants.

Thanks for taking pity on us and only including six.

As for the sartorial splendor(?) of today's youth, do you remember blue jeans that had to be rolled up to be cool? Or a pack of cigarettes rolled up in the shirt sleeve? Or the shirt collar being worn up in the back? (Perhaps to hide a dirty neck.)

My apologies to the professor, but then I don't claim to be a writer. tee hee.

No.1 - great question.
you really need to 'think from inside the box' in order to get it.

It's not just the pants, but if I wore them and listened to the music they enjoy...they would fall off when my hands went to my ears.

Ditto, Steve.

Aye, Jack. I remember those too!

Pink Ginger, too many think outside the box. Sometimes you do need to think inside the box.

Peter, I think most people will miss the "five."

LZ - I guess the generations are looked at as a matter of perspective.

SJ, in our day those belts they have foregone, would be leaving welts on our collective backsides.

Also #5 - 'four and five" - didn't have a clue.
