A Nashville, Tennessee woman is facing criminal charges stemming from a birthday party for her 16-year-old son. Apparently nothing was too good for her son, as she hired a stripper to dance for him.

Annette Pharris, 34, was indicted by a grand jury on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and involving a minor in obscene acts. The boy's father, the stripper, and two others also face charges. The defiant mother could see nothing wrong with her plans.

Pharris said, " I tried to do something special for my son. It didn't harm him."

Ten people under the age of 18 were at the birthday party in September, including minors not related to the family, authorities reported. Police spokesperson Don Aaron said minors are not permitted in adult establishments.

There were no complaints filed the night of the party. The police were notified several days later by the employees at a local drug store. Mrs. Pharris had taken photographs at the party, some of them showing explicit contact between the stripper and her underage son, as well as some of the other minors in attendance. Pharris took the photos of the party and tried to development the film at the pharmacy.

To reporters outside the courtroom, she said, " Who are they to tell me what I can and can't show to my own children?"
