Just What Were You Thinking?

(The Blizzard of Feb. 2006 - at the time of this posting we had 18 inches of fresh snow on the ground.)

When you think of snow, do you think of the North Pole? When you think snowball, do you think of those Hostess cakes covered in marshmallow and coconut? When you think snowman, do you think of Cletis and Smokey and the Bandit?

When you think white stuff, are you worried about dandruff? When you think white stuff, do think of cocaine? When you think white out, do think of correction fluid? When you think white, do think Betty or Barry? When you think white, do think of white russians? When you think white, do you think linens and underwear? When you think white, do you think salt and sugar?

When you think cold, do you think of frosted beer glasses? When you think cold, do you think of a kiss from an angry lover? When you think cold, do think of a witch's breast? When you think cold, do you think of your supper when you are late? When you think freeze, do you think what your ISP does when you are on line? When you think frozen, do you think that just happened to your ISP? When you think frozen, do think daiquiris?

When you think zero, do you think of a candy bar? When you think zero, do think of Fiddler on the Roof? When you think avalanche, do you think of buying an SUV? When you think drift, do you think you should tighten your belt? When you think drift, do you think you should you be wearing a bra?

When you think deep, does Descartes come to mind? When you think mounds, do think of a candy bar? When you think mounds do you think Dolly Parton? When you think boots, do think of computer start ups after a freeze? When you think of slippery, do you think of oysters? When you think of gloves, do you think of proctologists?

When you think windy, do you think of politicians? When you think of flakes, do you think corn? When you think of flakes, do you think Hari Krishnas? When you think skis, do you think of Polish people? When you think blizzard, do you think of Dairy Queen?

When you think of 12 inches ladies, do you often daydream?

If you answered yes to any of these, then you do not live on the Eastern seaboard. You do not live in the areas between southern Virginia and Maine.

What do I think when I think of these things? I think of Aruba, Fiji, and Hawaii! What do I think of these things? I think winter sucks!

Shovels, snow plows, snow blowers, etc., these are not a few of my favorite things!

But soft, what aroma from yon kitchen? Homemade beef stew! Did I tell you how much I love winter?

Amen, Brother. The weather outside is frightful, but inside it's so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let if snow.

Those who don't get much snow can't understand that during the storm - as long as family is safe and the house is secure - it's actually quite nice. Can't do much but wait it out ... and eat delicious cooked meals, as you point out. Nice post.

fantastic post! I love winter... hubby - not so much. I've got to figure out how to email that picture to him.... He'll probably make it his screen-saver!

Here in FLY-OVER America, it has been one of the mildest I remember in the last 10 years of living here. All the other winters, I would have not had the energy to bulid this picture! Thanks for the post on my blog too! ~ jb///

This is terrific Hale. Nicely did. (But when I think of cold, I think "as cold as a brass monkey's balls." But that's just me.)

When you are talking about your winters I agree, they suck, ours on the other hand are a slice of perfection.
