On the Road Again

I might not have a classic '57 Chevy like Homer Simpson ...

But my '98 GMC Sonoma pickup gets me where I want to go ...

And today it let me stop there ...

Now that it has brakes!

There was a parade of twenties and fifties marching from marching from my wallet into the till of a hungry cash register. Cash tendered for services rendered!

I hate parades!

$289.00

It could have been worse, much worse. I might have had scored drums. I might have needed calipers replaced.

All it took was new pads and rotors for the brakes and the driver's side broken stabilizer was replaced.

As for work, I was able to salvage most of my schedule. Out of three scheduled jobs I was able to get to two of them. According to Meatloaf : Two Out of Three Ain't Bad!

Meanwhile, my patchwork plumbing job is holding up. There is still a small leak, but since Monday evening it has only resulted in only about two tablespoons of water on the basement floor. The money I saved from calling in a plumber essentially paid for the brake job.

In front of every silver lining, there is a dark cloud.

I got to bed late last night and didn't sleep very good. I had to get up early to drop the truck off at the mechanic's garage. I picked it up and payed the freight at 12:30. I hit Wendy's for a burger and some fries before I started out for my two jobs. I made it home at 6:45. After a bit of supper, I drew up a quick sketch (above) and then I posted this brief recap of my day. It's 9:15 - I'm off to bed.

Good night.

It's good to know you are on the road again and that you could salvage the schedule.

Ditto what the skunkman said.

Skunk

I was expecting it to cost me somewhere between $500 and $600. Right you are - I got off cheap! (That's not to say that I couldn't find something better to spend the $289 on .....)

Jack,

I salvaged part of the schedule. I will have to work 5 hours on Saturday though.
