Cell-ebration

This is the new cell phone that replaced the one that was lost/stolen yesterday evening. (The story was posted in yesterday's post.)

It is an upgrade over the last phone in that this one is programmed for Bluetooth technology. After the expense of the new phone, a card for 400 minutes and the DC charger for my truck, I decided to wait a few weeks before purchasing the Bluetooth headset.

When I got my first cell phone, I felt I didn't want to be locked into any contracts or to receive monthly bills. I opted instead for a "pay-as-you-go" enabled phone. I've had good luck with Virgin Mobile, so that's the service I kept.

The sweetheart of a tech-lady at Virgin Mobile gave my account credit for the 5 free ring tones that had come with the purchase of my previous phone. I don't care for the ring tones that are already programmed into the phone, which is a UT Starcom product.
The five I selected were:

◊ "Wild Thing" by the Troggs
◊ "Hawaii Five O" by the Ventures
◊ "Jeopardy Theme" by ?
◊ "Yakkety Sax" (Benny Hill theme) by Boots Randolph
◊ "Monday Night Football theme" by ?

...And for $2.50 I purchased:

◊ "The Lone Ranger Theme" (William Tell Overture)
Not many people have those, or at least I haven't heard them playing when their phones rings. I was tired of hearing a cell phone ring and not knowing if it was mine or the phone of someone else.

You should see the looks by others near me when the Benny Hill theme starts blasting away when I receive a call.

I think I've bored you enough on the subject of my cell phone and its ring tones.

Three days ago I ran a post using a cutout of an actress to parody a headline about the recent stock market woes, There Are Horrors and There Are Horrors.

What do I find in yesterday's paper? A cutout image of Sarah Palin. Giving her image the same treatment as the actress, I came up with the following:

Last but not least, this cartoon tells it like it is:

No.1496

Fancy ring tones there! I love that last cartoon. It probably should be said to every couple at their weddings!

If I ever cave in and get a cell phone again, it'll be with a "flatulence" ring tone, right off Blazing Saddles...

It's great to learn that you are keeping up with the latest technology. I'm not sure I am as brave you.

Yakkety-sax is a great choice.

Cartoons are priceless.

Judy,

Yes. If it was said at every wedding - maybe couples would think twice - and eventually there'd be less divorces.

Skunk,

LOL - A flatulence ring tone is a great idea.

Imagine being in a crowded place and your phone "rang." I can almost picture the looks on the faces of everyone around ...

Jack,

I'm still a little leery of all these new fangled high-tech devices and toys.

I did use the camera while I setting up the phone last night. I snapped a picture of one of the cats that was sitting on the back of the couch by my shoulder. The pic came out good and I am using it as the wallpaper for the phone.

Yes, Yakety Sax is a good one. A lot of people recognize it as the Benny Hill theme though.
