World's First 3-D Blog

Correct me if I am wrong, but I'll bet you threw away those cardboard 3-D glasses didn't you? You never in a million years thought you would need them when you visit a Blog Site, did you? Uh, anyone have a pair I can borrow?

The last 3-D movie I ever saw was, believe it or not, The Stewardesses. You can imagine what were popping out of that screen!

This posting is just an excuse to dabble less subtly into nostalgia. Can you believe the Furby craze came and went in such a short amount of time? Yes, I too have shed a tear over their demise. For an autopsy of one of these creatures and a crime scene report you can check it out here.

I am waxing nostalgic with the thought of the one and only John Belushi. We can only imagine what his comic genius would have given us had he remained with us.

From SNL to the big screen, he gave us many memorable laughs as a Samurai warrior, as a Blues Brother, and who could forget Blutarsky from Animal House ? By far, this film was the best of the National Lampoon films. We miss you, John.

I always wondered why no one ever complained about two naked kids who pontificated on the virtues of love. While they were certainly cute enough, neither had any discernible features beyond the hair on their heads to indicate their sex. I don't know if the strip (pardon the pun) is still in syndication or not, but I'm sure that some of those "PC groups" out there wouldn't think twice before attacking these comic "Love Is" kids. Then again, these people must have a lot more times on their hands than I have. It's a shame they don't spend some of their energy protesting world hunger, terrorism and protest groups. I wonder if they can even look past the picture to even read the simple little messages.

Speaking of comic strips, what ever happened to this babe? Any cigar smoking woman, especially a witch, cannot help but be funny. One day I was reading this comic in the funny pages, and the next day she was gone.

I think I'll end the trivial nostalgia with the one cartoon that I have the earliest memory of from my youth. When I see some of the film that has survived the years, I had forgotten just how crude Tom Terrific had been drawn. The backgrounds could be seen through the figures. With his faithful companion, Manfred the Wonder Dog, they battled the evil Crabby Appleton. As best I can remember, this cartoon was my introduction to "Good vs. Evil."

I noticed that while I was in the process of preparing this posting, my visitors counter was changing. There were about 30 visitors in a two hour span. I was aware that I was drawing close to another milestone. (Well, it's a milestone from where I sit.)

Thank you!
Thank all of you who contributed to the counter. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog as much as I have enjoyed posting it.

Whew! 6000!

I am SURE my counter would be up to a million or maybe two million but it just can't keep up with the onslaught. That must be what it is....

I am hot for cartoon reminisce. I have Smokey Stover tomorrow. He last appeared 28 years ago, so you don't know anything about him. More's the pity.

Belushi was one of the best. I think of him often when I see someone try to imitate. They never come close.

Forgot to tell you:

"Love Is..." still appears in my local newspaper. It is NOT pretty sappy. It is TERRIBLY sappy... Not quite as bad as Marmaduke, but close.

Speaking of bad, why am I still reading Garfield. Same old, same old...

I LOVE Tom Terrific and I wish it was still on. Crude drawing, yes, but elegant in it's simplicity!
