Last But Not the Least

I wish to thank all of you who voted for my blog as Best Comedic Site. Alas, I came in third. Third out of three isn't so bad though. As such I'd like to thank those who didn't vote for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being sarcastic or bitter. Truth be told, it was an honor. I enjoyed the whole thing.

The last time I was ever nominated for best of anything, I came in fifth - out of five! As I see it, I moved up a couple of notches. In my high school year book this was beneath my picture: Most Likely to _______ (Fill in the blank)

I am grateful for the chance to compete against other blogs. If for no other reason, at least there was some added exposure. In less than a year I have managed to attract over 10,000 visitors. (Not bad for someone who probably couldn't get laid at a women's prison with a fistful of pardons.)

Sometimes to be funny, I tend to poke fun at myself. If I were to say that I didn't come here to be insulted, sure enough some visitor would leave the comment: "Where do you usually go?" Before you can laugh at and with others, you have to be able to laugh at yourself. (An act that I practice every morning when I am shaving.)

Congratulations to the winner and runner-up by the way. Also, I tip my hit hat to Miss Cellania for the nomination. Have you visited her site? It is well worth a visit if you haven't, and worth a return visit if you haven't stopped by her place lately. She offers up links, jokes, pictures, etc. on a theme of various sites. Her current post concentrates on "Divorce." There are some hillarious photos and links provided. Do check them out.

I remember our Senior Class play, way back in 1966. We performed Harvey and I tried out for the role of Elwood P. Dowd. I was offered the role of Harvey! Oh boy, I thought that afternoon, they're giving me the lead! Reading the script I liked the challenge. Imagine, I was going to be invisible and have no lines! It was the role of a lifetime!

If the winter theme to the graphics hasn't tipped you off yet, I can assure you that it is winter here in New England, even if the calendar insists it is still 13 days away. It is winter if I have to: 1) shovel snow; 2) scrape ice off my windshield; 3) wear a stocking cap, scarf, heavy coat and gloves; and 4) freeze my ass off.

I am what you'd call a "winter wimp." I been here in the Boston area since 1968, and I still cannot get used to cold weather. (It ain"t Mayberry, but it's home.) I have, as a result of the frigid temperatures, become quite a fan of that wonderful blend of coffee and hot chocolate - mocha. The piece de resistance is my version. An easy mathematical equation explains it rather well: hot coffee + hot chocolate + Baileys Irish Creme = manna! Top this almalgamation of tongue ticklers with a cinnamon stick, nutmeg and a dollop of whipped cream and it'll warm your cockles! (Having my second one as I am composing this blog.) Of course you can forgo the toppings, as evidenced by the fact that we have none of them in the house right now.

Have a good night and may all of you sleep well ... As I am going to do ... ZZZZzzzzz ...

I laugh at myself quite a lot. I figure on most of the stunts I pull, someone's going to point their finger my direction and laugh like a fiend. I might as well be laughing too.
Third's not bad, ya know. My kids used to always say this:
First is the worst.
Second is the best.
Third is the one with the hairy chest.

You are a sweetheart, thanks for the plug.

You would have won that award last month. This month you were up against some real heavy hitters. But you're right about the new readers, its all about encouraging a wide range of blog reading.
